My Most Worn Neutral Polishes

neutral nail polishes

I recently cleared out more than half of my nail polish collection – watch the video here! I was harboring too many shades that I never touched and simply needed to let go. Now with a newly streamlined stash of colors I do actually use, I thought I would share my top five neutral polishes.

  1. Essie Urban Jungle: You know how you can get your eyebrows tattooed on? Sometimes I wish I could tattoo this color on my nails. It’s a classy, creamy, light beige that strikes a perfect balance between white and nude, and it works for every occasion.
  2. Essie Chinchilly: I reach for this one when I’m not feeling my usual nude and pink colors, but want to stick with something understated. Chinchilly is a light creamy grey that isn’t too warm or cool.
  3. Essie Flawless: I get it, this color is underwhelming in the bottle. It looks like every other light pink by every other nail brand, but once I get it on my nails, I feel transformed. The hue is wonderfully flattering.
  4. Butter London Kerfuffle: Take it from me, you need this one in your life. Kerfuffle is a creamy light peachy pink that suits everything: short or long nails, fingers or toes, fair or tan skin. This will be one of the few polishes I actually use up and repurchase.
  5. Nails Inc. Bamboo White: Similar to Urban Jungle, this one is a light pinky cream that’s also universally wearable. What really stands out with this one is the streak-free, opaque formula… something you don’t find very often in the nude polish family! This was LE and may be difficult to get your hands on now, but take a peek in your local Sephora and it might be in stock!

I guess you can say I love my creamy neutral shades. I just love how they work for every look and I never have to worry if my polish is clashing with my outfit/occasion/etc. What are your most worn neutrals?

Chinchilly looks like the shade I’ve been hunting for! So many grey polishes are just too grey, but this looks perfect.

Ahhh I love all of these shades so much. Great choice with Essie, I absolutely love their polishes. They apply so well and take ages to start chipping! xo

These are all great picks! I want to get my hands on the Nails Inc. Bamboo White.

I’ve really been in to doing a French manicure, so I’ve been addicted to trying out different sheer neutrals to enhance the white tips. My three favourites right now are OPI Princesses Rule!, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure 140 Peachy Keen, and Essie Ballet Slippers.

Kind of a side note: do you find Essie polishes chip a little too quickly? I never used to notice it, but the last few manicures I’ve done with Essie as the colour coat have chipped so much faster than other brands, yet my base and top coats have stayed the same. Weird.

I don’t find Essie to chip noticeably faster than other polishes I own, but I do find (with all polishes) that the thickness of my application can affect chipping. It seems when I do thinner coats and layers, it wears better than thicker coats that come off in chunks. And I guess it depends what I’m doing with my hands – cleaning, etc!

I love Essie nail polishes, they have such an amazing colour range and I also love their brush for applying. I particularly like your choice of Urban Jungle and Chinchilly.

I’ve put myself on a nail polish buying ban for all of 2016, but if I could find Bamboo White I might have let it be my “cheat” polish. It’s so beautiful and the formula gets such great reviews!

I just decluttered my own nail polish collection, then I watched your video and now I want Essie Flawless and Urban Jungle… Maybe I’ll make myself get rid of two more bottles and that way I won’t feel so bad. 😛
