I’ve finally been trying out the new(ish) Revlon ColorBurst Matte and Lacquer Balms. Yesterday’s post was dedicated to the Matte Balms, so today I’m going to focus on the Lacquer Balms. These are described as “moisture rich” with a “high shine lacquer” finish. I tend to gravitate toward glossy finishes on my lips, so I was curious as to how these would stack up against other gloss balms I’ve tried.
I picked up a few colors in pink/red shades that I thought I would wear often.
These balms come in “twist-up” packaging that doesn’t require sharpening. I immediately noticed how pigmented these are. These are much more opaque than other glossy balms I wear, like the CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balms. The coverage is almost like a lipstick. While I’m not sure I would call it “high shine”, the finish definitely has a sheen to it, enough that I don’t feel a need to add a gloss on top.
All three of these shades apply evenly and have a light, creamy consistency. The formula contains shea, coconut, and mango butters, and has a hydrating feel to it. Like the Matte Balms, these wear around four hours on me if I’m not eating or drinking. The Lacquer Balms seem to wear a little better through eating and drinking than the Matte Balms, but I would still expect to touch up after meals throughout the day.
I really love all three of these shades! I prefer this formula to the CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balms, which were my previous go-to glossy balm. I find that the color is more opaque and the finish is more glossy. The Revlon Lacquer Balms retail for around $9 and can be found in drugstores, Walmart, and Target.
Have you tried these balms yet? What is your favorite shade?
