Books I’ve Been Reading

Curling up with a great book never gets old – it amazes me how staring at lines of print can take my mind and throw it into another world.  Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:

  • Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll: TifAni FaNelli has dedicated her adult life to reinventing herself and working her way to the top of New York’s upper society. With a glamorous job and wealthy fiancé, “Ani” is about to have everything she dreamed of growing up, but her past is dark and full of secrets. “Luckiest Girl Alive” is a mystery-thriller and often compared to Gone Girl (one of my all-time favorites), and while I don’t think it’s as good as Gone Girl, it was an interesting read and I went through it quickly.
  • The Good Girl by Mary Kubica: I’m currently reading this one and it’s been a page-turner from the start. Mia, the daughter of a prominent judge in Chicago, is kidnapped by a man she meets in a bar, and taken to a remote cabin in Minnesota. The book’s chapters are a mixture of perspectives from before and after the abduction, and only a couple chapters into the book you discover Mia has been found. She has amnesia and can’t remember anything about what happened, leaving the reader to try and put together the pieces before the truth is revealed.

Have you read anything great recently?

“Down the Rabbit Hole” by Holly Madison was great! Such great insight on self-transformation when you’re in a really dark place, and as a former fan of the show, “The Girl’s Next Door,” I found the behind-the-scenes components fascinating.

I read The Good Girl. Wasn’t as good as I was hoping but there is an interesting twist at the end!

Thank you for the tips Allison! I’m in a desperate need of new books to read and both of these definitely sound intriguing!

The Good Girl sounds really interesting! I’m currently reading The Versions of Us, which is a love story. A boy and a girl meet for a split second at university. One version follows their story together, one follows them apart and the third is a hybrid and perhaps the most interesting one. If anyone has enjoyed the film Sliding Doors, this is a great book!

If you like the Good Girl with different perspectives you will like “The Widow” by Fiona Barton.

Both of these are on my To-Read list! I’m currently reading The Cuckoo’s Calling. It’s been on my list to read for a while!

I read the luckiest girl alive and could not put it down! The only downside is that I did not like ANY of the characters.
