Curling up with a great book never gets old – it amazes me how staring at lines of print can take my mind and throw it into another world. Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:
- Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll: TifAni FaNelli has dedicated her adult life to reinventing herself and working her way to the top of New York’s upper society. With a glamorous job and wealthy fiancé, “Ani” is about to have everything she dreamed of growing up, but her past is dark and full of secrets. “Luckiest Girl Alive” is a mystery-thriller and often compared to Gone Girl (one of my all-time favorites), and while I don’t think it’s as good as Gone Girl, it was an interesting read and I went through it quickly.
- The Good Girl by Mary Kubica: I’m currently reading this one and it’s been a page-turner from the start. Mia, the daughter of a prominent judge in Chicago, is kidnapped by a man she meets in a bar, and taken to a remote cabin in Minnesota. The book’s chapters are a mixture of perspectives from before and after the abduction, and only a couple chapters into the book you discover Mia has been found. She has amnesia and can’t remember anything about what happened, leaving the reader to try and put together the pieces before the truth is revealed.
